Event Lineup for Week June 22, 2009

22 06 2009

For those of you who may not be familiar with them, every day we run an event on Xbox LIVE. We suggest a game in a different theme every day of the week, and set a time. Not sure what to play? Hoping to connect with other Aussie/Kiwi gamers? All you  need to do is hop into the game at the date and time, and host or join a game over Xbox LIVE.  Other local gamers will be doing the same thing. More local gamers means less lag, better gaming, and new friends. And who doesn’t want that?

This Week’s Events:

June 22 – 6PM AET – Music Monday – Guitar Hero World Tour

June 23 – 6PM AET – Family Game Night – Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

June 24 – 3PM AET – Arcade Afternoon – Peggle

June 25 – 9PM AET – Co-op Night – Left 4 Dead

June 26 – 8PM AET – Community Playdate – Red Faction: Guerrilla with OXCGN and That Aussie Game Site

June 27/28 – 9PM AET – Weekend Warriors – Halo 3

Weekend Marketplace Roundup – June 19/20/21, 2009

22 06 2009

Xbox LIVE for $1

19 06 2009

To give all our Xbox LIVE Silver members a bit of Gold (what are we, the end of the rainbow?) we’re offering a 1 month Gold subscription for $1. All you have to do to get it is log in to your Xbox LIVE Silver account and select the 1 month subscription. What better way to start the weekend than by playing online with gamers all over the country (and the world)?!

Pro tip: Since we’re a day ahead of the US you can taunt the American gamers about how it’s already the weekend here and they still have a whole day to go.

More Details

Note: Your membership will automatically renew to a standard price monthly membership at the then current price, unless you change your renewal or cancel before your membership ends.

Marketplace Issues Resolved

19 06 2009

Issues should now be resolved for the LIVE Marketplace–new content should now be visible, and missing content should be back.

What’s everyone planning on playing this weekend?

Marketplace Update

18 06 2009

Progress!

All 3 new Arcade games (Rocket Riot, Magic: The Gathering, and Sam & Max Save the World) should now be downloadable from the Xbox LIVE marketplace. Issues with new and vanished content are being worked on still.

Marketplace Issues

18 06 2009

We know that users are having trouble with some marketplace content–trouble purchasing some new items, other content disappearing, etc. I’ve been getting emails from the team since yesterday evening and these guys are diligently (and sleeplessly!) working on getting it all fixed.

In the meantime, I’m deactivating the promotions for affected content so they’re not staring you in the face. Trust me, I’m salivating over Magic: The Gathering too!

PS–Special jinx trivia. When I was growing up I didn’t know anyone who played Magic but I bought a few decks because they were pretty (I dare you to argue! They are pretty!), much the same reason I first got interested in Myst. I tried to teach myself to play from the manual and largely failed. I made up rules and played against myself instead. I always tended to favour one side instead of playing fairly. Yes, I favoured myself against myself. I’m sure a therapist would have a field day with that.

LIVE Restored

17 06 2009

Xbox LIVE and Xbox.com are both back up. You won’t see much different in the dashboard–updates were mostly behind the scenes. One thing you will notice is a new layout to MyXbox. It’s shiny and avatary!

Love it? Hate it?

LIVE Downtime

17 06 2009

So I FINALLY get back to Australia, and finally back to my Xbox, and it’s the middle of the downtime. I thought I was clever, flying during the downtime, but not clever enough. What are you guys doing to keep occupied?  I feel like there’s a black hole where my heart is supposed to be.
