Top Arcade Games

16 07 2009

It’s that time of the week again–time for the top Arcade games for the last week! As per usual, we’ll look at the top purchased games first, then see what you spent all your time playing.

One new development for top purchased games–I’m now cutting out the free offers, since it’s not apples to apples to compare free games with those that cost.

ANZ Top Arcade Games by Purchases

  1. Battlefield 1943
  2. Worms 2: Armageddon
  3. N+
  4. Magic: The Gathering
  5. Castle Crashers
  6. Bankshot Billiards 2
  7. UNO
  8. Ikaruga

GLOBAL Top Arcade Games by Purchases

  5. Castle Crashers
  6. Ikaruga
  7. UNO
  8. Sonic the Hedgehog 3
  9. TMNT 1989
  10. King of Fighters XII

I see we locally got into the N+ Deal of the Week in a big way, and even Ikaruga, which was only DOTW for a day or 2 during this reporting period, has already broken top 10. I’m glad to see you all liking it so much! Also, Worms 2 mania is in full swing, and in the last week the original Worms has finally dropped out of the top 10, after being there pretty much every week.

Otherwise, looks like we still have a greater obsession with balls. That is, billiards and marbles. Obviously. Ahem.

  8. Hasbro Family Game Night*
  9. Worms
  10. Peggle

This week is unusually in accord. Normally there are 2-3 major differences. This week? Just Peggle! Speaking of Peggle, we’re unlocking the multiplayer this weekend. What does that mean? If you’re a LIVE Silver member, you can play online against friends as if you had a Gold account. Maybe the yanks are practicing up for that.

  6. Sonic the Hedgehog 3
  7. Worms
  8. N+
  9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  10. Marble Blast Ultra

What? Where did Kingdom for Keflings come from?! You guys must have taken my insights on Avatar clothing to heart. Worms look like they’re slowly beginning domination of the Arcade, as well they should.

ANZ Top Played Arcade Games

  2. Magic: The Gathering
  3. UNO
  4. Castle Crashers
  5. Worms

  8. Peggle
  9. N+
  10. Garou: Mark of the Wolves

Only a couple differences. Looks like the rest of the world is keen on N+ this week… perhaps because it’s the deal of the week?! But they can’t overcome our love for Feeding Frenzy. Seriously, that’s up there on the local chart every week!

  2. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
  3. Castle Crashers
  4. Worms
  5. Hasbro Family Game Night
  6. Garou: Mark of the Wolves

  10. Sonic the Hedgehog 3

GLOBAL Top Arcade Games by Purchases

  2. Hasbro Family Game Night
  3. Garou: Mark of the Wolves
  4. Castle Crashers
  5. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
  6. Dash of Destruction
  7. Aegis Wing
  8. UNO
  9. Worms
  10. Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Aegis Wing? Really? No idea why this would have jumped up into the list, but I guess we’re guilty of Bankshot Billiards 2, which I also have no idea about since we haven’t done any major promotion around it recently, but that’s the top 10! Also, we seem to have kept Sam & Max in the top 10 over global’s choice of UNO. No complaints there! After all, UNO has been around for a while.

Bonus Round!

We know the top 10 arcade games by purchases, but what are you guys actually playing?

ANZ Top Played Arcade Games

  1. Magic: The Gathering
  2. UNO
  3. Castle Crashers
  4. Garou: Mark of the Wolves
  5. Hexic HD
  6. Worms
  7. Peggle
  8. Rocket Riot
  9. Sam & Max Save the World
  10. Feeding Frenzy

GLOBAL Top Played Arcade Games

  1. Magic: The Gathering
  2. Castle Crashers
  3. UNO

  5. Hasbro Family Game Night
  6. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
  7. Hexic HD
  8. Worms
  9. Peggle
  10. Rocket Riot

A couple differences here but nothing major. Magic makes sense. UNO’s continuing popularity warms my heart and makes me wish I were better at it. I guess we don’t get into the Family Game Night stuff as much? I’m originally American so forgive my ignorance, but I’m curious if the same boardgames–Boggle, Sorry!, Yahtzee, Connect4, Battleship–are popular here or if they’re just a quaint American thing. Any boardgame enthusiasts want to educate me?

Top 10 Arcade Games – June 25, 2009

25 06 2009

Seems you guys liked the top 10 retail game stats so I figured I’d share out a few more.

These are the top 10 LIVE Arcade games for the week, by purchases.

ANZ Top 10 Arcade games:

  1. Magic: The Gathering
  2. Sam & Max Save the World
  3. Worms
  4. Castle Crashers
  5. Sonic the Hedgehog 3
  6. Peggle
  7. Duke Nukem 3D
  8. Rocket Riot
  9. UNO
  10. Marble Blast Ultra
GLOBAL Top 10 Arcade games:

  1. Magic: The Gathering
  2. Castle Crashers
  3. Worms
  4. Sonic the Hedgehog 3
  5. Sam & Max Save the World
  6. UNO
  7. Cellfactor: Psychokinetic Wars
  8. Peggle
  9. Rocket Riot
  10. TMNT 1989 Classic Arcade

Good to see I have lots of company picking up Magic: The Gathering. I gave up bolding the placement differences because #1 and #3 would be the only ones NOT bolded, so instead I just bolded the ones that don’t appear at all on the other list.  I’d make a joke about how we care less about killing stuff, but with Duke Nukem on our list I really can’t. Sidenote that MBU is #12 worldwide, which I guess means we’re just batting above our weight, or however that expression goes.
